



4 Trails Ultra Loop, also known as 4TUL was founded in 2020. This 189km loop starts and ends at Tai Mo Shan, with 95% of the route falling within Hong Kong's four major trails: the MacLehose Trail, Wilson Trail, Hong Kong Trail, and Lantau Trail. The loop is connected by public transport.
The 6th edition of 4TUL will be held from March 5th – 7th 2027. There are 5 categories in the race, namely One Go, Warrior, Half, Adventurer and Rocker which are 126km (UTMB 100M), 104km (UTMB 100K), 55km (UTMB 50K), 55km (UTMB 50K), 37km (UTMB 50K) in distance respectively.
The 2027 4TUL course will be different from previous years.
We are excited to announce the return of One Go after the 2024's 4th edition. This year’s One Go will feature a slightly shorter distance than the 2024 version, but with higher elevation gain.
Additionally, the 4-leg Relay category, which was only available in the 1st edition, will make a comeback.
The redesigned routes will focus mainly on Lantau, including climbs up Ngong Ping and Lantau Peak, as well as a shortened Island section and the need for participants to climb Needle Hill for the MacLehose section.
We’ve also redesigned the categories to include Adventurer, a new concept for those who want to be part of the event but prefer not to compete in race mode.
4 Trails Ultra Loop (簡稱4TUL) 始於2020年。這條189公里長的環港越野賽起點和終點均位於大帽山,其中95%的路線都位於香港四大主要徑道,起點及終點均在大帽山。 其中95%的路線都位於香港四大主要山徑 (即麥理浩徑、衛奕信徑、港島徑及鳳凰徑) 。完成這環港路線需要以公共交通工具連接,實際需要跑步的距離約為146公里。
第六屆4TUL將於2027年3月5日至7日舉行。 賽事共設五個組別,分別為One Go、Warrior、Half、Adventurer 和 Rocker,距離分別為126公里 (UTMB 100M)、104公里 (UTMB 100K)、55公里 (UTMB 50K)、55公里 (UTMB 50K) 及
37公里 (UTMB 50K)。
2027年4TUL的賽道將與往年有所不同。
我們很高興地宣布,繼2024年第四屆之後,One Go 將於今年回歸。今年的 One Go 賽程將比2024年略短,但爬升度更高。
此外,僅在第一屆中的四段接力賽也將回歸。
重新設計的路線將主要集中在大嶼山,包括攀登昂坪和鳳凰山,同時縮短港島路段,並要求參賽者攀登針山以完成麥理浩路段。

Rules & Important notes :
1. 4TUL background
4TUL originated from a personal challenge in 2020. The "4T" refers to four major mountain trails in Hong Kong: the MacLehose Trail, Lantau Trail, Hong Kong Trail, and Wilson Trail. The Ultra Loop "UL" circuit starts and finishes at Tai Mo Shan.
•The 1st edition was an individual challenge for each runner.
•The 2nd and 3rd editions were held as virtual races.
•The 4th edition was a physical race held in March 2024.
•The 5th edition continues the tradition of having no ribbon markings on the race courses. Participants must download the GPX file provided by the organiser for navigation. Although over 95% of the route covers the four trails, participants are highly encouraged to conduct a recce beforehand to familiarise themselves with the terrain.
2. Unique features
A distinctive aspect of 4TUL is that participants need a coordinated strategy that combines athleticism with resourceful planning to choose the start time for them from the following: 6:50am, 7:20am, 7:50am, or 8:20am. All participants must complete the first 26km section from Tai Mo Shan Rotary Park to Tuen Mun Pier, then take the 10:50am ferry from Tuen Mun Pier to Tai O Pier. Failure to board the 10:50am ferry will result in a DNF (Did Not Finish).
3. Time limit
The time limit for each category is based on the official start time of 7:50am. However, the actual finish time for participants will be based on their chosen start time.
The rule regarding the time limit for each category being based on the official start time of 7:50 AM, despite there being multiple starting times, is designed to ensure flexibility for all participants. This structure allows runners to select a start time that best suits their pace and strategy, ensuring they can reach the Tuen Mun Pier in time for the 10:50am ferry. By offering multiple start times, the race accommodates runners of varying speeds and confidence levels. Slower runners or those less confident in their pace can opt for an earlier start, while faster, more confident runners can choose a later start time.
The key point is that while the time limit is standardised, the actual finish time for each participant is calculated based on their individual start time. This means everyone has an equal opportunity to perform at their best. Additionally, since all participants must take the same ferry, everyone begins the section from Tai O at the same time, ensuring a fair and synchronised continuation of the race. This rule balances flexibility with fairness, allowing each runner to compete on equal footing regardless of their chosen start time.
4. Public transport requirements
Participants must use the following public transport between sections:
•Section 1 to Section 2: Tuen Mun Pier to Tai O Pier via CKS Fortune Ferry.
•Section 2 to Section 3: Mui Wo Pier to Central Pier via Sun Ferry.
•Section 3 to Section 4: Tai Koo to Lam Tin by MTR* (applicable to One Go participants only) or the shuttle bus provided by the organiser.
*One Go participants must take the MTR to cross the harbour. The last train of the day departs at 00:43am. Those who miss the last train must take the official shuttle bus, which operates at 45-minute intervals (1:45am, 2:30am, 3:15am, 4:00am, 4:45 am, or 5:30am). Participants unable to catch the last shuttle must take the MTR, the first one being at 6:03am
5. Mandatory Gear

6. External support
Participants are reminded that pacing is not allowed. External support is permitted only at Checkpoints and Central Pier. Failure to comply with these rules may result in a time penalty or disqualification at the discretion of the Race Director.
7. Bag drop services
Free bag drop services will be provided to all participants. Drop bags and mid-race bags (for Warrior and One Go participants only) will be collected at the start. All drop bags will be sent to the finish points. Warrior and One Go participants will have their mid-race bags collected at the Mui Wo Checkpoint.

•4TUL第一屆賽事為挑戰者單獨挑戰。
•第二屆及第三屆進入賽事模式,在疫情期間,賽事均以虛擬賽形式進行。
•第四屆在2025年3月進行實體賽。
•第五屆延續過去的傳統,賽道上並不提供任何絲帶引路。參賽者必須下載大會提供的GPX 檔作導航。雖然95%以上路線落在4徑上,大會仍然建議參賽者在賽事前試路,以便熟悉路線及了解路況。
2. 獨有特色
4TUL 賽事獨特之處是參賽者需要考慮其個人能力及配速等策略後去選定起步時間: 早上6時50分、7時20分、7時50分、8時20分。所有參賽者必須完成由大帽山扶輪公園至屯門碼頭的26公里路段,接著乘搭10時50分由屯門碼頭開至大澳碼頭的航班。未能登上10時50分的航班將會視為未能完成賽事 (DNF)。
3. 限時
各組別的限時以大會起步時間7時50分為基礎, 唯參賽者實際完成時間以其選定的起步時間作計算。
每個組別的起跑時間都有多個選擇,旨在確保所有參賽者都能靈活安排時間。這不同時間起步的安排讓參賽者選擇最適合自己速度和策略,確保他們能夠準時抵達屯門碼頭,乘搭早上10時50分的航班。透過提供多個起步時間的選擇,可滿足參賽者不同速度和信心的需求。速度較慢或對自身速度缺乏信心的參賽者可以選擇較早的起跑時間;相反,速度較快、信心充足的參賽者則可以選擇較遲的起步時間。
每個組別限時的時間都是一致,但每位參賽者的實際完成時間是根據他們各自的起步時間作計算。這意味著每個人都有平等的機會展現最佳水準。此外,由於所有參賽者必須乘坐同一班渡輪,因此每個參賽者都會同時從大澳出發,確保比賽公平及同時地進行。此規則在靈活性和公平性之間取得平衡,令每位跑步者無論選擇什麼起步時間都可以公平地競爭。
4.公共接駁交通工具要求
參賽者必須使用以下公共交通接駁各路線:
第1段至第2段: 屯門碼頭至大澳碼頭 - 富裕小輪。
第2段至第3段: 梅窩碼頭至中環碼頭 - 新渡輪。
第3段至第4段: 太古至藍田 - 地鐵* (適用於One Go 參賽者)或大會提供的穿梭巴士服務。
*One Go 參賽者必需乘搭地鐵過海。地鐵尾班列車為凌晨00時43分。不能趕及乘搭尾班列車的參賽者必須乘搭大會提供的穿梭巴,班次為45分鐘一班 (凌晨1時45分、2時30分、3時15分、4時正、4時45分 或 5時30分)。參賽者未能趕及最後一班穿梭巴必須乘搭地鐵,首班列車時間為早上6時03分。
5. 強制裝備

6. 外部支援
不允許有配速員。外部支援只限於在檢查站內及中環碼頭。違規者會導致加時處分或被取消資格,最終裁決由賽事總監決定。
7. 寄存行李服務
大會將提供免費寄存行李服務給所有參賽者。
行李及中繼包 (只適用於Warrior and One Go participants) 可在起點寄存。所有行李將依據參賽者參加的組別送到相關的終點。Warrior and One Go 參賽者的中繼包將會送到梅窩檢查站。

4TUL Story
The 4 Trails Ultra Loop (4TUL), founded in 2020, is one of Hong Kong’s ambitious trail running event, linking the MacLehose, Wilson, Hong Kong, and Lantau Trails. The 189km loop is ingeniously linked by public transport (MTR and ferries), with runners covering 146km on foot.
The inaugural 2020 edition featured a 189 km “One Go” challenge attempted by nearly 30 runners. The 2nd and 3rd editions became virtual races, expanding to include section races and team challenges. The 3rd edition also modified the course, extended the longest distance to 170 km, and introduced four categories: 100M Extreme, 100K Warrior, 50K Rocker, and 25K Speedster.
After a three-year pandemic hiatus, the 4th edition (in 2024) returned as a physical race, reversing the route to anti-clockwise and reintroducing the 146km “One Go”, as well as adding a 100km Warrior, and 66km Half Loop. The event attracted elite international runners and was featured in the SCMP.
The 5th edition (held in March 2025) featured 27km and 45km distances.

首屆2020年賽事設有189公里 One Go挑戰賽,吸引了近30位跑者參與。第二屆和第三屆賽事改為線上虛擬賽,並擴展至分段賽和隊際挑戰賽。第三屆賽事也調整了賽道,將最長距離延長至170公里,並新增了四個組別:100公里Extreme、100公里Warrior、50公里Rocker和25公里Speedster。
在經歷了三年的疫情衝擊後,第四屆賽事 (2024年) 開始實體賽,路線改為逆時針方向,並重新推出146公里 One Go組別,同時新增100公里Warrior和66公里Half Loop。這項賽事吸引了許多國際精英跑者,並被《南華早報》報道。
第五屆賽事 (2025年3月舉行) 增設了27公里和45公里兩個賽程。
The 4TUL First Challenger
The 4TUL One Go route was designed by the race founder, Kenneth Seto. He completed the challenge on November 28th 2020.

In 2021, 4TUL became a trail running race. 4TUL Extreme, 100 miles version, was introduced in 2023. In 2024,the 4TUL story continues, the race will be doing the loop in reverse (anti-clockwise).

A great race, combining pacing along with strategy connecting all four run legs with MTR and ferries. If first you don’t succeed, try again!
The 4TUL is an incredible experience – the beautiful route takes you from the heart of a country park in New Territories into the middle of city on HK Island and then back out again into New Territories via Lantau Island.
As an enthusiastic newcomer to ultra running, I originally signed up to complete the 4-in-a-Row format only. However, after running each of the sections and loving the route, I knew I wanted to take on the full One-Go Challenge. I immediately signed up as a One Go Participant, started looking into ferry timetables and planning the logistics… It was my first time running more than 50KM in one go and my first time running solo at night, and I loved the whole experience and challenge. I can’t wait to sign up again for the 3rd Edition!
