The Fat Mak Trail Race (FMTR) is a trail running race named after a prominent local landmark: Fat Mak Rock. This distinctive rock is located along the route, in the middle section of Tai Shing Stream (KK05288090), and features the Chinese characters 肥佬麥 (meaning "Fat Mak Rock") painted on its surface.
Some netizens have noted that the painted name "Fat Mak Rock" has been visible since at least 1975. If this is accurate, it means that "Fat Mak Rock" has a history spanning 50 years! However, the origins of the name "Fat Mak Rock" and any associated stories remain unclear. The intriguing name not only makes the rock a popular spot for photographs but also adds a unique design element to the race.
The race takes runners through the scenic trails of Tai Mo Shan and Shing Mun Country Park, with some moderate climbing involved. There are two distances available: 14 km and 35 km, with both the start and finish located at Grass Dam in Shing Mun Country Park.
Fat Mak Trail Race (簡稱FMTR) 是一個越野賽事，賽事名稱靈感來自於賽道上經過的一大石『肥佬麥』。 『肥佬麥』位於大城石澗徑中段 (KK05288090)，石上被人漆寫上『肥佬麥』三字。
有網民指出『肥佬麥』三字早在1975年已經出現，如果真有其事，即是『肥佬麥』在山界出現了接近50年！究竟為什麼會寫上『肥佬麥』及背後有否鮮為人知的故事，大家就不得而知。『肥佬麥』這個有趣的名字除了令本來寂寂無名的大石變為一個出名的打卡點，亦同時為本賽事提供設計元素。
賽道在大帽山及城門郊野公園內，有一定程度的攀升。賽事分為14公里及35公里兩個距，起點及終點均在城門草壩。
